What we do

Getting children to do things they don’t want to do isn’t easy. And when it comes to getting them to spend time on schoolwork, you can have a real struggle on your hands. That’s why we opened Oxford Education Centres – to offer a fun route to learning that both children and their parents will really love.

 

STEP BY STEP

At the centre, we treat every child as an individual. Through careful measurement, we tailor a plan to suit their needs. Then, to ensure their programme still fits, we make continual checks and alterations, as your child’s needs change.

ASSESSMENT

The assessment we use is a very useful tool. As well as providing us an insight into your child’s skill level in literacy or numeracy, it also serves as a kind of academic “health check” so you know how your child is doing in relation to the National Curriculum.

The great thing about the assessment for us is that we have the chance to spend time with your child, get to know them and make them feel at home in the centre. Then when they come back to start their learning programme, we already feel like old friends.

TAILOR – MADE PLAN

Using the results of the assessment, we put together an individual learning plan, designed to effectively help your child in the relevant areas. This plan is readjusted each week by their teacher to reflect your child’s needs.

LEARNING PROGRAMMES

Children, like adults, learn in different ways and during the first few weeks we get to know how your child learns and we adapt our learning methodologies to suit your child. This close monitoring also enables us to make sure that every aspect of your child’s learning programme is working for them.

Your child will usually attend the centre once a week for 80 minutes and will have the same teacher each week.

ANY QUESTIONS

At school, not all children get the attention they need. Individuals need individual attention and no matter how good the school is, it can’t be all things to all people. As a result, some struggle and fall behind, lose confidence and get into a vicious circle of low self-esteem and underachievement. Others may be insufficiently challenged and in need of more stretching work.
