How we do it




Most of us remember one particular teacher who really made a difference, who brought a subject alive for us and helped us to believe in ourselves. Well, when we select  teachers to join our team, that’s exactly what we look for too.

All of our teachers have formal teaching qualifications and considerable teaching experience in their subject areas.



The curriculum combines direct contact time with a teacher, study time to encourage independent learning and stimulating computer – assisted learning activities. There is also regular testing of skills to check they have grasped and mastered the topic.


From basic skills in reading, handwriting, grammar and spelling through to more advanced literacy tools such as analysis of texts, use of language, reading and writing for different purposes, we cover all aspects of the English curriculum to GCSE Level.


Working on all areas of numeracy from number, calculation, problem solving measures through to probability and handling data, the material and programs we use closely match the National Curriculum and all aspects of the GCSE curriculum.


From skim reading texts to organising their time, this element of OEC’s curriculum is designed to help your child become an effective student by focusing on basic study principles.

For teaching we choose people who as well as having formal teaching qualifications, have the innate ability to bring learning alive – whether that’s demystifying fractions, unlocking a child’s creative writing ability or giving a child the confidence to just ‘have a go’.

At  OEC  we always try to consider things from a child’s point of view. It is our aim to make our centre as comfortable, fun and welcoming as possible. This philosophy is reflected in every aspect of the centre, from the use of bright colours on the walls and the tables to the state-of-the-art computer facilities, a great atmosphere that children really enjoy.
